A Family Of Bears Show Up In The Backyard. When Baby Bear Goes For The Cat? WOW!

Image
T here’s no shortage of playground bullies in the animal kingdom, and you better believe that felines play that villain exceptionally well. In a compilation video we posted a while back, we watch countless pups who tower over their cat overlords cower in their presence — some even refuse to enter a room where a cat sits eyeing them with vengeance. And after half of those dogs finally muster the courage to pass through a foyer, those same kitties make their mean little swipes at them on their way through. That’s not to say that all cat and dog relationships are emotionally destructive. There was another example of a cat-fearing puppy we posted that showed that the two pets eventually became inseparable, proving that there’s hope yet. Just maybe not for the bear in the video below. In a hilarious turn of events, a family of bears wander into the backyard of one very intolerant kitty. When approached by the largest of the group, the cat takes a couple swipes and hisses m...

Man Who Went Viral Swimming With Arthritic Dog Has Adopted A New Pup

Image
Perhaps you remember Schoep the arthritic dog and his owner Joe Unger. Images of Joe holding Schoep, floating in Lake Superior to ease the pain in the poor dog’s joints, went viral on the internet about 3 years ago. It’s no wonder the pair became a sensation. Their story was so incredibly touching, the images of them so heartwarming, that they resonated with humans the world over. When Schoep passed, every one who knew of Joe and his pup mourned the dog’s passing . “He was my life,” Joe said. He has a collection of mementos and gifts sent by people from around the globe. Recently, Joe has found another way to commemorate the memory of Schoep. With a new dog. “It was re-learning how to live and once I learned that and once I got through the toughness of his love that’s when I started searching again,” Joe said.  Bear, who is one year old, was surrendered to a nearby shelter with several other dogs. When Joe learned of the need to find the pups h...

Couple Pulls Over For ‘Dead’ Dog On Side Of Road

Image
Everyone thought the tiny dog lying on the side of a Georgia road was dead. When Terri Skidmore and her boyfriend, Mike Aziz, drove past that somber scene last July, they saw the driver who hit the dog staring over his seemingly lifeless body. "I kind of assumed the dog was dead," she tells The Dodo. "I couldn't get him out of my head. So I told my boyfriend, 'Let's just turn around and let's see.'" Terri Skidmore When the couple pulled up, the man who had hit the dog was already gone. But an older couple was at the scene. Aziz called out from the car window. "Is he dead?" The couple replied, "He's still breathing." When Skidmore approached the animal, she realized he wasn't just a small dog. "I saw baby teeth," she says. Skidmore tenderly plucked the gravel pits from the puppy, tended to his road rash and made him as comfortable as she could. He was emaciated, infested with para...

Guinea Pig Who Lost His Brother Finds Comfort In An Unlikely Friend

Image
John the guinea pig (named after John Steinbeck) and his brother Kurt (named after Kurt Vonnegut) were the best of friends. The pair did absolutely everything together — until Kurt passed away in April. Claudia Benz When John lost Kurt, he was incredibly lonely and had no desire to do much of anything at all. "At first, John seemed really sad and stayed in his 'cave' inside of his cage, and would only come out to eat," Claudia Benz, John's mom, told The Dodo. John's family wasn't sure what to do — until, of course, they remembered Micki. Claudia Benz Micki is the family's dog and has always been fascinated by the guinea pigs. He loved to watch them playing in their cage and would gently lick their faces whenever they got close enough. Since Micki already seemed to love John, the family wondered if John might learn to love Micki, too. "Micki and John have always been buddies, but my mom first took John out of his...

Before he found his forever human, he was wandering around looking for a safe place where there would be warmth and food to eat. Emily Aubrecht (@ jessie.and.koda ) took the little stray in and let his dreams come true. At the time Aubrecht had a 3.5-year-old Australian Labradoodle, Jessie, a very friendly and playful gal. "On Koda's first day home, he imprinted on Jessie. Since then, they have been inseparable," Aubrecht told Love Meow. Koda has become so attached to his best friend that when she goes outside, he cries to tag along. Jessie takes the little feline buddy under her paws and carries him around, showing him...

What To Do If Your Dog Eats Your Pot

Image
A video showing a Siberian husky named Loki after he accidentally ate marijuana is making news all over the world . "It's like he's not even real," a voice can be heard saying at the end of the video, which shows a man trying to prop up Loki as his tongue dangles out of the side of his mouth. Stumbling, dilated eyes and disorientation are signs that a dog has gotten into a secret stash. And sadly, this is happening more and more, and there isn't much that can be done for intoxicated animals. "Marijuana toxicity is no laughing matter and if people note their dogs have gotten into it they should seek veterinary care immediately," Dr. Robert Proietto, a veterinarian in New York City, told The Dodo. "It is also important to tell the veterinarian the truth. No veterinarian is going to judge their client for being honest and we will never contact the police. We just want to know what is going on so we can treat the pet to the best of o...

This Dog Turned To Stone And Was Found Rock Solid. But Watch Her Unbelievable Transformation!

Image
About a year ago outside Athens, Greece, one woman spotted something that looked like a strange statue. After walking a bit more, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that it had started moving. But upon closer inspection, she discovered this stone statue wasn’t a statue at all — it was a dog in dire need of help. The woman posted its picture on Facebook with a message asking for help. What followed would ultimately put an end to the sad stray’s suffering. This was the dog when she was first spotted outside of Athens, Greece. After her picture was posted on Facebook, she was given the name Petra, which is Greek for “stone,” and rescuers quickly mobilized to bring her to safety. But it wasn’t easy. Petra was horribly afraid of humans and would run each time they attempted to get close to her. Finally, she was caught and brought to the Save A Greek Stray shelter in Oropos.   It was ther...
