Russell the cat is one amazing feline for many reasons. After suffering burns on almost his entire body during a house fire, Russell was left behind and it wasn’t until 4 days later that his body was found in the ruble of his
completely destroyed home. Initially medical personnel believed this poor cat was no longer alive, but quickly they realized he was still breathing and desperately in need of medical attention.

It has been almost 18 months since this poor Manx cat entered the Animal Emergency Hospital and Urgent Care Center in Raleigh, North Carolina as a patient faced with a long road to recovery. Luckily medical professionals were able to revitalize Russell and treat his many burns–which badly covered his face, severed the tips of his ears, and singed almost all his fur.
In his time at the hospital, Russell quickly became a favorite of many there who wanted to see this sweet cat make a full recovery. Surprisingly, before they knew it this cat who has suffered so much started doing something extraordinary: he started caring for other injured pets at the facility.
“He wants to be friends with every animal,” said Megan Maus, one of the vet techs at the animal hospital.

As you can see, Russell has no problems at all making friends at his new home:
